Responsible for teaching French 1, French 2 honors/IB juniors, French 3/IB seniors.
Training for IB will be provided but former Ib instructor is available to provide support. French falls into the ab initio category so students should acquire proficiency in French between Novice Low to Intermediate Mid.
Our district is 6A but there is only one high school. The department consists of 7 teachers (5 Spanish, 1 French and 1 German). District is one of 5 in the city. Although Rural is in the name, the school is located just southwest of the city.
There is an established curriculum, but there is much flexibility in methods for instructions; however the best case scenario would be a teacher who is open to or already familiar with Comprehensible Input.
Class sizes max at 29 but the average class size for French is typically less than 20.
The administration is supportive of World Languages.
