First Edition of the Klett World Languages Award for Innovative K-12 Programs
Overview
Klett World Languages, in partnership with AATF, is launching the 1st Edition of the Award for Innovative K-12 Programs, a recognition aimed at schools and districts in the United States that have implemented innovative strategies to:

Increase enrollment in language programs.

Revive or create French programs where none previously existed.
This award seeks to celebrate initiatives that promote language education as a tool for shaping global citizens and demonstrate tangible results in the development and sustainability of K-12 language programs.
What Will Be Recognized?
Programs will be recognized based on:
-
Innovation: Use of creative methodologies, unique resources, or strategic partnerships.
-
Tangible Impact: Evidence of enrollment growth or the creation of new programs.
-
Sustainability: Plans to maintain and expand the long-term impact of the program.
Award Guidelines
Who Can Apply?
This award is only available to AATF members whose programs fit the following criteria:

Public, private, or charter K-12 schools or school districts in the United States with French programs.
-
Both newly created programs and established programs that have implemented initiatives to increase enrollment may apply.
Requirements
Evidence of Program Impact:

Data showing enrollment growth (before and after the initiative).
-
Evidence of program creation or revival.
Program Description:
-
Innovations implemented.
-
Strategies used to engage the educational community (families, students, teachers).
-
Sustainability: Plans to continue and expand the program’s impact.
Submission Format:
Submit a PDF proposal (maximum 5 pages) including:

Description of the program and its context.
-
Implemented innovations.
-
Evidence of impact (data and testimonials).
-
Sustainability plan.
-
Contact information for the program coordinator.
Award
-
$1,000 USD for the winning program to invest in its expansion or sustainability.

Official recognition on the Klett World Languages and AATF websites, as well as at the AATF convention awards ceremony.

Certificate of Excellence for the school or district.
Key Dates

Application Deadline: April 15, 2025.

Winner Announcement: May 15, 2025.
Evaluation Criteria
A panel of education and language experts will evaluate proposals based on:

Originality and creativity of the strategies implemented.

Demonstrable results in enrollment growth or program creation.
-
Inclusivity and accessibility for students.
-
Feasibility and sustainability of the program.
