AATF Francophonia Nice Scholarship

Francophonia, an institution in  Nice, France, which provides teacher formations,  has generously offered the AATF 35 scholarships to their summer programs for 2025. AATF members who have paid their dues for 2025 are eligible to apply.  These scholarships are available to college/university students, current French teachers, and retired French teachers. 

An awarded scholarship covers tuition for the Francophonia program.  Applicants may also apply for up to $1000 in additional funds to help offset travel and housing costs. AATF Executive Council, SHF Council, and those receiving an honorarium from the AATF or NFC are not eligible to request the $1000 travel support funds.

The AATF scholarships are valid for the following two-week periods:
  • July 20-August 2, 2025
  • August 3-16, 2025

AATF members may apply for funds, up to $1000 to help offset travel and housing. AATF Executive Council, SHF Council, and those receiving an honorarium from the AATF or NFC are not eligible to request the $1000 travel support funds.
There are up to five (5) $1000 awards available -- one for each ACTFL region (NECTFL, SCOLT, Central States, SWCOLT, PNCFL) to ensure geographic parity. 
The recipients of the funds will receive them in two (2) payments, one initial payment of $500 upon submission of receipts of housing and/or airfare costs, and a second payment of up to $500 upon submission of additional travel-related receipts (housing, airfare) and proof of one of the following options:
  • a presentation about what the recipient learned during their time at Francophonia at a local AATF chapter event, state or regional conference, AATF national conference, or
  • by an article written for the AATF National Bulletin

Scholarships from Francophonia cover only the cost of the course tuition. Participants are responsible for:
  • visa fees (as needed)
  • transportation (both flights to Nice and transportation while in Nice)
  • housing (Francophonia does have negotiated housing rates available, please see below)
  • meals
  • free-time activities
  • incidentals

If selected, one may arrange for one's own housing, or Francophonia has negotiated the following housing options, which are subject to availability:
  • Offre Eco chambre partagée 6 nuits + parcours L'Education ensemble* :  350 euros (nuit supplémentaire 35 euros)
  • Offre Médium studio 6 nuits + parcours L'Education ensemble *: 542 euros (nuit supplémentaire 67 euros)
  • Offre Médium studio double 6 nuits + parcours L'Education ensemble* = 760 euros (nuit supplémentaire 80 euros)
  • Offre Supérieure studio climatisé 6 nuits + parcours L'Education ensemble* = 590 euros (nuit supplémentaire 75 euros)
  • Offre Famille d'accueil chambre simple 6 nuits + demi-pension + parcours L'Education ensemble* = 560 euros (nuit supplémentaire 70 euros)
  • Offre Famille d'accueil chambre double 6 nuits + demi-pension + parcours L'Education ensemble* = 1120 euros (nuit supplémentaire 140 euros)

 

*Au-delà de notre contribution à l'approfondissement par chacun de sa maîtrise de la langue française, de la découverte et du partage de méthodes pédagogiques placées sous le signe de l'innovation, nous voulons aussi profiter de votre présence à Nice sur la Côte d'Azur, pour partager et enrichir ensemble une vision commune de ce qu'est « être professeur aujourd'hui ». Au cours de nos traditionnels moments de convivialité culinaire, les lundis et jeudis, comme durant les excursions que nous organisons pour vous, nous travaillerons ensemble sur le sens de l'engagement dans le professorat, sur les rencontres que ce métier offre à ceux qui en font profession, à l'influence que chacun d'entre vous peut avoir sur les élèves qui lui sont confiés tant il est vrai que, souvent, en matière d'éducation, « Tout commence par un professeur ».

All scholarship applications must be received by April 25, 2025 at 11:59pm Mountain Time. We regret that we cannot accept late applications, due to the tight turn-around to confirm places with Francophonia and to secure housing for those who wish it.
