Professional Bio
Cynthia Trogisch-Teixeira was born in Sèvres, France and has lived in France, Aruba, various states in New England, and is now in Rock Hill, SC. She is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA with a double major in French Language and Literature and International Politics and has her Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She is a Rock Hill School district Peer Evaluator and Mentor, and is an avowed polyglot speaking four languages and a devout language acquisition advocate. Cynthia is World Language department chair and teaches French in levels ranging from to beginners to advanced immersion/Pre-AP courses at Sullivan IB Middle School in Rock Hill, SC. She is the current Directrice of La Petite École de L’Alliance Française de Charlotte, North Carolina, Directrice de La Francophonie de Jeunes Citoyens du Monde, an executive board member of the State Seal of Biliteracy committee for the state of SC, Diplôme d’Étude de La Langue Française (DELF) assessor, and past Educational Chair of the Rhode Island American Association of Teachers of French. She is a member of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), South Carolina Fellowship of Language Teachers & Advocates (SCFLTA), Southern Conference on Language Teaching (SCOLT), and the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) of which she is the current Vice President for the state of South Carolina. She is a frequent presenter on cultural integration, “decolonizing” one’s language curriculum, curriculum design, technology integration, and performing arts as a means to teach languages at World Language conferences and a workshop facilitator. Cynthia was the Rhode Island Foreign Language Association (RIFLA) teacher of the year and was a Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (NECTFL) finalist for ACTFL Teacher of the Year. She has been happily married since 2006 and is raising her children Joaquín and Brielle bilingually.
