Convention Registration

There are several rates which vary according to the excursions and activities chosen. Early Bird Basic Registration (available until May 15) is $290 and includes full participation in sessions and exhibits plus the opening reception, convention mallette, and dictée. A Full Registration Package of $405 also includes basic registration, the Welcome Luncheon, vin d’honneur, and one workshop.  Speaker Registration is $260.  The rate for Student, Emeritus, Honorary, or Life Members is $140. A one-day registration for either July 24 OR July 25 is also available for $225.

We will livestream a selection of sessions on Monday, July 25 and Tuesday, July 26 for a registration rate of $70 per day or $130 for both days.   Check out our Sched app for the full program (available after all presenters have confirmed and schedule is set).

Friday, July 21 & Saturday, July 22

Optional shuttle from the Montréal airport (YUL) to Trois-Rivières (Hotel Delta). Cost $85/person each way. Shuttle will leave the airport at 16:00 p.m. and arrive in Trois-Rivières at the Hotel Delta approximately two (2) hours later. It is also possible to rent a car or take the Orléans Express bus (https://www.orleansexpress.com/en/bus-travel/montreal-centre-ville-quebec-centre-ville-bus/)

Saturday, July 22

Pre-convention excursion (all day) 

  • Pre-Convention Excursion at the University of Quebec, Trois-Rivières, organized by the UQTR Modern Languages faculty of the Department of Modern Languages and Translation. 

8h30 à 16h00 « Connaissez-vous le Québec? » : Atelier de 5 heures  

2 hr Workshop : « Québécois Stories and Legends » with a Québécois storyteller/Contes et légendes québécoises, atelier de 2 heures avec un conteur québécois 

3-1hr Workshops : « À la découverte de la culture québécoise »

                                 « Intégrer la culture et la littérature québécoises en FLS »

                              « Quessé tu dis ? À la découverte d’expressions typiquement québécoises »

Includes Lunch and two coffee-breaks 

16h00 à 18h00 : Optional cultural activity

                       Followed by dinner at a microbrasserie (not included, at participant’s own expense)

Transportation will be provided to the campus and back to the hotel. Workshop participants will also receive a certificate of attendance/participation from the AATF.

Local French and FLE teachers as well as pre-service teachers will also be invited to participate in the workshop.

Sunday, July 23

  • Opening Session (9:30-11:30 a.m.)
  • Welcome Luncheon (11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.)
    Join us for the welcome luncheon where members can meet others from their region.   Buffet lunch with either a chicken or vegetarian entrée. Cost: $55 (pre-registration required; spouses and guests welcome)
  • Afternoon workshops (1-4 p.m.)

  • Exhibit Opening Wine & Cheese Reception (4-7 p.m.)
    Attendees can get a first look at what our exhibitors have to offer.

Monday, July 24

  • Sessions – 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m.
  • Exhibits – 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Dictée  (4:15 p.m.)
    Participez à cette activité annuelle où les congressistes peuvent s’exercer à la dictée, cette épreuve bien française.
  • Walking Tour of Trois-Rivières (4-6 p.m.)  Cost: $20
  • Cabane à sucre Chez Dany – Enjoy a guided tour and a traditional Québécois meal at an authentic cabane à sucre, Chez Dany, on Monday, July 24. A vegetarian meal option is available and a non-alcoholic drink is included with the price, as is transportation to and from Chez Dany. Minimum of 20 participants ($89/person, but the price will be lower with 30 paid participants and the difference refunded).

Tuesday, July 25

  • Sessions – 8:15 a.m.-3:45 p.m.
  • Exhibits – 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Walking Tour of Trois-Rivières (4-6 p.m.)  Cost: $20
  • AATF Vin d’honneur  (4:30-6:30 p.m.)
    Join us for the AATF vin d’honneur where we will recognize award recipients for 2023.  Cost: $30 (pre-registration required; spouses and guests welcome, includes a glass of wine and appetizers)
  • Brasserie tour -Go out in style for the last night of the AATF convention (Tuesday, July 25)! Discover a Québécois micro-brewery with a visit to “Le Temps d’une Pinte” and the opportunity to taste 4 of their artisan brews, tout en français, and then stay for a three-course dinner that incorporates traditional Québécois cuisine as well as modern influences and local sourcing of ingredients. Your choice of a beverage (other than water) with your meal is not included. ($57/participant)

*It may not be possible to attend the walking tour, vin d’honneur, and brasserie tour all on Tuesday, July 25. If interested in all three, please select a Monday walking tour.

Wednesday, July 26

  • Sessions – 8:30a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Shuttle back to the Montréal Airport (YUL) at 13:30. Cost: $85 per person
