Bonjour!
Are you interested in learning about the European Union and starting an international exchange program? I am a middle school French teacher in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and have had a very successful exchange program for almost ten years. My Belgian colleague and I are presenting a session on the afternoon of July 4th at the AATF conference in San Jose.  If you are attending the conference, please drop in; if you are looking for ideas for teaching the European Union OR you are a teacher at a French-speaking school  searching for an exchange school, please drop me an email.  There will be a number of American teachers attending our session in search of French teachers willing to work with a partner school. PBS created a documentary of our program: [Link]http://www.unctv.org/ncnow/features/april_09_02

A bientôt!

Hello,

I’m an English teacher from France looking for exchange partners for my students.

I could welcome a school group if this group accepts being spread over different schools in our suburb. We live 20km south of Bordeaux in a little town called La Brede, which is situated in the middle of vineyards. I could organize trips to Bordeaux (and even Paris) , a farewell party,  a sport game…

If your school is not ready to accept this, would you accept talking about our project to your students so we could  exchange with individuals?

Probably I would have a group of 30 students aged 13-16 and I would be looking into an exchange of three weeks.

As we are not allowed to leave during the school year we would only be able to travel during July and August. We could welcome any time which is convenient for your students.

Subject: Caring host families needed!

OPEN YOUR HEART AND HOME
to a French, German, Swiss or Korean exchange student
for the coming 2009/2010 school year

Caring host families (with or without children) are needed to provide food, a bed and a loving home for one or two semesters starting in late August.  EMF students have medical insurance, spending money for their personal expenses and expect to share their host family’s daily life including household responsibilities.  They speak English, are well-screened and eager to experience life in America.  Their stay here is sponsored and supervised by EMF (Educational Merit Foundation), a non-profit, educational exchange program.  It is not too late to apply.  For more information on EMF students, please call Marie-Claude Dijoud now at 1-800-467-8363 or visit our web site at www.emfusa.org

Veuillez agréer, Monsieur Madame, l’expression de mes sentiments distingués,

Rebekah Bray

Subject: combined level French classes

Bonjour,

Our district is considering combining Honors French V and AP French VI in the same class due to enrollment issues.

We are looking for suggestions as to how to teach this class most effectively by maintaining as much exposure as possible to the respective curriculum while maximizing opportunities towards a communicative approach.

Merci pour vos idées!

Subject: Host families needed ASAP!

Host families are desperately needed in Colorado for exchange students arriving from France on June 16-July 15.

The purpose of the stay is for the French kids to practice and improve their English be becoming part of an American family. Host families are asked to welcome a student, providing room and board and a warm family experience, just doing the ordinary things they do. Getting groceries, going biking or hiking, just daily life stuff is fun when seeing it through new eyes. It's a great way to contribute to international understanding and enjoy contacts abroad. Families do not need to know French because the kids are coming to practice their English.

This French group is from the Lycée St. Marc in Bourgoin, a small town southeast of Lyon, in the foothills of the Alps. The students who come are age 15-16 (equivalent to our sophomores) and part of a special European curriculum.

Christelle, the teacher/leader, is 27 years old and not only speaks English but also teaches Spanish at the school. She like sports, movies, music and theater and she's really excited to come to Colorado!

The dates of the program are June 16 - July 15. They are traveling on Air France, arriving late afternoon on June 16, and departing early early morning on July 15.

If you or some you know would like to host, please contact Jennifer Mallette at jenmallette@comcast.net, or via phone at 303-882-3823.

Has anyone taken a class of middle school students or high school students to Martinique?  J'ai beau cherché, je ne trouve pas de voyages organisés pour des élèves.  Depuis les États Unis c'est un vol court et c'est la France!

Merci beaucoup.

Subject: Bringing Foreign Exchange Students to Florida

My name is Alex Chavarria and I'm the Area Representative for International Student Exchange (ISE).  We still have a few International students needing host families for the upcoming school year.  Various county schools in Florida each have a few spots left for these students if we can find willing host families.

Maybe one of your Foreign Language Teachers would like to suggest the idea to their students?  Or maybe you know of someone who would be interested?

I'm including the several profiles below.  (NOTE:  These have been omitted due to space limitations on the Babillard; please contact Mr. Chavarria for this information.)  I have additional information on each student including letters they have written to their potential host family.

If you would share the profiles with your organization and others I would be grateful.  I know our Foreign Exchange students would be as well.

Kindly,

Alex Chavarria

Bonjour!

I have a colleague (English teacher) who wants to study French in Paris this summer.  She is at a low-intermediate level in French and is looking for a quality program to increase her speaking skills and grammar knowledge?  Could anyone recommend a program for adult students?
