Leveraging authentic francophone resources for teaching both culture and communication

The Internet has brought the world to us through authentic resources from authors, journalists, directors and event planners in other countries. We find materials that represent the local culture and avoid those with a foreign gaze. We curate francophone materials and support students to learn about culture while learning to communicate in French. This session will introduce accessible authentic documents from the Caribbean and Africa and show how to leverage these photos, videos, art work, film clips and news articles for French language learning. Included will be a walk-through of how to apply ten activity ideas to any authentic document and plenty of ready-made lessons for the teacher to try in their classroom.
